A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and follow no friends other than He; little do you remember. 3 And how many a [rebellious] community have We destroyed, with Our punishment coming upon it by night, or while they were resting at noontide! 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 (On the Day of Reckoning) We shall question the people to whom We had sent Our apostles, (if they followed their teachings), and will question the apostles. 6 and We shall relate to them with knowledge; assuredly We were not absent. 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses. 9 And indeed We established you in the earth and in it created for you the means of livelihood; very little thanks do you offer! 10
