Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By the Clear Book; 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 And verily, [originating as it does] in the source, with Us, of all revelation, it is indeed sublime, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then (warn you not and) take away the Reminder (this Quran) from you, because you are a people Musrifun 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 Then We destroyed those who were stronger than these in prowess, and the case of the ancients has gone before, 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
