The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all the Hereafter and this world. 25

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
