a multitude of the ancients, 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam), why then do you not remember or take heed? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
