The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. THESE ARE MESSAGES of revelation - of a discourse clear in itself and clearly showing the truth. 1 The disbelievers will ardently wish that if only they had been Muslims! (At the time of death / in their graves / on the Day of Resurrection.) 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 They say: 'You to whom the Remembrance is sent down, you are indeed mad. 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment, etc.), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite! 8 It is We who have sent down the Reminder and We will, most surely, safeguard it. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him. 11 thus We cause this [habit of mocking] to enter into the hearts of the sinful. 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 They will say all the same: "Our eyes were dazed (and clouded over). We were a people ensorcelled." 15
