When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?" 11 He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 He said, “Not like this (any more); both of you go with Our signs, We are with you, All Hearing.” 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 Send the Israelites with us". 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And that favour wherewith thou didst oblige me was that thou hadst enslaved the Children of Isra'il? 22 Said Firaun, “And what is the Lord Of The Creation? 23 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty." 24 Said Firaun to those around him, “Are you not listening with attention?” 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 Said Firaun, “Then bring it, if you are of the truthful.” 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
