The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
