Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 in a high Garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
