The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and who still desires more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
