The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
