The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 and who still desires more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
