The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
