Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 He therefore inwardly sensed fear of them; they said, “Do not fear!”; and they gave him the glad tidings of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
