He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you attend to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
