We created you, then We shaped you, then We said to the angels: 'Bow yourselves to Adam'; so they bowed themselves, save Iblis -- he was not of those that bowed themselves. 11 Said He, 'What prevented thee to bow thyself, when I commanded thee?' Said he, 'I am better than he; Thou createdst me of fire, and him Thou createdst of clay.' 12 So God said: "Descend. You have no right to be insolent here. Go, and away; you are one of the damned." 13 [Satan] said, "Reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 14 and God replied, "You are granted respite." 15 Satan said: 'Since You have led me astray, I shall surely sit in ambush for them on Your Straight Path. 16 and shall most certainly fall upon them openly as well as in a manner beyond their ken, and from their right and from their left: and most of them Thou wilt find ungrateful." 17 He said, "Get out of here, despised, and rejected! I shall fill Hell with all of those who follow you." 18 And; O Adam: dwell thou and thy spouse in the Garden and eat ye twain thereof whence ye will, and approach not yonder tree lest ye twain become of the wrong-doers. 19 But satan whispered to them, so that he might reveal to them their shameful parts which had been hidden from them, he said: 'Your Lord has prohibited you from this tree lest you both become angels or become among the immortal' 20 he swore to both: 'Indeed, I am to you among the advisers' 21 So he brought them down with deception; and when they tasted from that tree, their shame became manifest to them and they began attaching the leaves of Paradise on themselves; and their Lord said to them, “Did I not forbid you from that tree, and tell you that Satan is an open enemy to you?” 22 They both submitted, “Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves; so if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, then surely, we are of the losers.” 23 He said: 'Descend, each of you an enemy to each other. The earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment for a time. 24 There you will live; there you will die; from there you will be raised up again." 25
