Al-A 'araaf 14 of 24
Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 who seeks to drive you from your land what do you command' 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the sorcerers came unto Pharaoh [and] said: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail." 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 [and] exclaiming: "We have come to believe in the Sustainer of all the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences). 123 "Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on apposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross." 124 They said, “We shall return to our Lord.” 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
