۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
