Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working. 5 Say, "I am only a human being like yourselves. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path to Him and ask His forgiveness." Woe to those who associate others with Him, 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. 8
