The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
