And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
