So did you observe him who turned away? 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
