The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
