Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and when the stars are scattered; 2 the oceans are merged together, 3 And when the graves are turned upside down (and they bring out their contents) 4 (Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back. 5 O MAN! What is it that lures thee away from thy bountiful Sustainer, 6 Who created thee, then moulded thee, then proportioned thee? 7 having put thee together in whatever form He willed [thee to have]? 8 Rather, you belied the Recompense. 9 But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you. 10 Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds). 11 who know all that you do: 12 Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight. 13 The wicked certainly in Hell: 14 In which they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense, 15 And thence they shall not be allowed to be absent. 16 And what could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be? 17 Again, what do you know – of what sort is the Day of Justice! 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
