The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
