Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me, 12 And my breast straiteneth, and my tongue moveth not quickly: so send for Harun. 13 "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." 14 He said, “Not like this (any more); both of you go with Our signs, We are with you, All Hearing.” 15 “Therefore approach Firaun then proclaim, ‘We both are Noble Messengers of the Lord Of The Creation.’ 16 [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'" 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did' 19 Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. 20 I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West, and all that lies between them, if only you could understand." 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 (Moses) said: "Even though I have brought to you something convincing?" 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
