[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
