Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 So it will come upon them suddenly, whilst they will be unaware. 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
God the Almighty always says the truth.
