Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 Had he not been one of those who acknowledge the glory of God, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, 145 and caused a creeping plant to grow over him [out of the barren soil]. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 They claim that He has kinship with the jinn, yet the jinn themselves know that they will be produced before Him [for judgement]. 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 "And we are truly those who stand in rows, 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And there were those who said, 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 that, verily, they - they indeed - would be succoured, 172 And that Our host, they verily would be the victors. 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
