The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 thy robes purify 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked around, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
