The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
