Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set forth 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
