And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ but We caused him to be cast forth on a desert shore, sick [at heart] as he was, 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 But when it shall descend in their court, evil shall then be the morning of the warned ones. 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
