The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
