The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
