The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. 1 No recent revival of the remembrance comes to them from their Lord, except that they play with it as they listen 2 With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 Nay, but they say: 'A hotchpotch of nightmares! Nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet! Now therefore let him bring us a sign, even as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers.' 5 Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? 6 And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 Then We fulfilled the promise We had made to them: We rescued them and those whom We wished, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. 9 We have indeed sent down towards you a Book, in which is your repute; so do you not have sense? 10
