The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
