A multitude of those of old 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 “They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 Such shall be your hospitality on the Day of Recompense. 56 We! it is We Who created you: wherefore confess ye not? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Do ye create it or are We the Creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Have you seen the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74
