Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: 10 And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways. 11 Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. 12 ‘And that when we heard the guidance, we accepted faith in it; so whoever accepts faith in his Lord, has no fear – neither of any loss nor of any injustice.’ 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 Had they (jinn and mankind) remained steadfast in their religion (Islam), We would certainly have given them abundant water to drink 16 So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: 17 And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19
