The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the close of night, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Then where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
