Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
