And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
