We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all for nothing. Only those who deny imagine so. So for the unbelievers there is woe from the fire. 27 Shall We treat those who believe and do good like the mischief-makers in the earth? Or shall We make those who guard (against evil) like the wicked? 28 (This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect. 29 We gave David Solomon. He was an excellent servant who always turned to God. 30 And when one evening well-trained and running horses of noble breed were brought to him 31 he said: “Lo! I have come to love this wealth on account of the remembrance of my Lord.” And when the horses disappeared, 32 Bring them back to me' And he hacked their legs and necks (slaughtering them for Allah). 33 And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned. 34 He said: "My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower." 35 So, We subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed, 36 and all the devils who built and dived for him. 37 And other demons bound in chains. 38 This is Our gift, so bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. 39 And indeed for him in Our presence are, surely, proximity and an excellent abode. 40
