The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 that hide, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
