And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." 14 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 Send with us the Children of Isra'il? 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him, "Did you hear?" 25 He said: your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers. 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
