And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
