The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise, and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
