Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
