The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 thy robes purify 4 Pollution shun! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
