The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
