Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
